Design Principals

“I believe that architecture belongs not to civilization but to culture. Architecture comes into existence only against background of history, tradition, climate and other natural factors.” - T. Ando

Profile

My name is Vicki Elias Kennedy and I would like to tell you a little bit about my background. My passion for design and construction started when I was just a little girl. Back then my father was a draftsperson, whilst studying to be a builder. I used to always accompany him to client and council meetings and helped him measure up buildings for the alterations and additions that he designed and drafted. I loved it, couldn’t think of anything more enjoyable to do. As I grew up my father became a builder and of course I followed him along to his construction sites, helped him survey the site, set it out for the footings and then the walls. I listened in to to all the meetings he had with the architect and it was then I knew I wanted to be an architect. I developed a passion for design and construction. I enjoyed the discussions and resolutions with the clients and varies consultants and seeing it all come together and constructed with satisfaction.

By the time I was in year 10 at high school I knew that to get into architecture at university I need to do well in the HSC. So I buckled down and aimed high. To my surprise and delight I got a place in my first preference at University of NSW in Bachelor of Architecture.

I started working full time in architecture in 2001. The next 14 years I dedicated my self to the field learning, practicing and experiencing a variety of architectural work. My experiences have been varied, I started my courier in the private sector working on high rise, multi unit, commercial and then I moved on to high end residential for Tanner Architects. I further pushed my boundaries and developed my skills and experiences by moving to the public sector were I was leading a variety of projects including bed sit upgrades, multi unit developments, sub divisions, design review of Bonnyrigg Community Renewal project. In 2010 I moved to project management were I project managed the upgrade of over 200 homes in remote NSW including new construction all over NSW.

Today my next chapter in my career, I have taken all these skills, experiences and passion that I have developed since just a little girl and harnessed them into my own architectural business, VK ARCHITECTURE. At VK Architecture, my architectural skill in both small and large projects, my passion for design and construction, good communication, project management experience combined with my practical knowledge ensures clients satisfaction.
